Zombies, more accurately called the walking dead, are reanimated corpses who feed on the living, and have become a ubiquitous video game enemy. They often move slowly, but can be deadly in large numbers, which is unfortunately how they tend to travel. Shotgun time!
Zombies cannot rebuild tissue. When you exercise, your muscles tear up, but then after rest, you build more tissue and stronger tissue. Zombies can't do that. They'd actually get weaker over time. Plus, zombies aren't coordinated enough to run."
Excellent point, unless whatever turned them into zombies in the first place mutates their physical structure enough so that it either would be possible for them to rebuild tissue, or they have enough of it in the first place that it doesn't really matter. Or maybe they'd regenerate muscle mass after feeding.
Also, thinking on that for a second...basically it'd mean that when the inevitable zombie apocalypse is upon us, we're going to have BOTH kinds of zombies. Ones that are fresh and strong and fast, then the ones that have already expended their energy and are slow moving. Because zombies are not always the smartest things so it makes sense they'd give into their lust for brains and go running wildly after prey heedless of whether or not it meant their muscles were weakened. (Unless you got a really SMART zombie, which is probably worse than either fast or slow...)
