Zombie
Concept »
Zombies, more accurately called the walking dead, are reanimated corpses who feed on the living, and have become a ubiquitous video game enemy. They often move slowly, but can be deadly in large numbers, which is unfortunately how they tend to travel. Shotgun time!
Fast moving Zombies or slow moving Zombies?
"Slow. I dont consider fast zombies to be zombies at all.Left 4 dead will never forgive you :P
(Forgive me Left 4 Dead!)"
"TheGTAvaccine said:I'll just have to sacrifice more human beings in it's name...wait...you heard nothing!"Slow. I dont consider fast zombies to be zombies at all.Left 4 dead will never forgive you :P "
(Forgive me Left 4 Dead!)"
For being dead, I don't think the "fast moving" mythos is all that plausible.
Now, infected humans a la 28 Days Later, I can understand. But not zombies.
And, on that note, I would much rather be caught in a situation against slow moving zombies.
I like a mixture of both. Like in Resident Evil 5-when they're close, they move slow, but try to grab you quickly. But when they're far away, they'll run up to you quick (it looks).
Though really fast ones, like in Left 4 Dead, are a lot scarier.
Between these of course I'd take slow moving zombies.
But if this implies a world like Romero's, in which every single death, be it from a bullet or a disease, turns you into a zombie, then I don't know.
Guess I'd still take slow moving ones. You'd just have to lock the door after saying goodnight do grandpa I guess.
Slow ones, of course. Those sprinting deads just don't seem right.
slow ones are funner. If there was a zombie invasion I would want slow ones becaus they would be fun to mess with.
Fast moving zombies have a more instant fear factor. The fast headcrab zombies in Half-Life 2 made me jump on more than one occasion.
Slow moving zombies, on the other hand, create a better build up of tension. Having several zombies slowly advancing on you while you empty the magazine of whatever gun you're holding, not knowing if you'll be able to take them all out before they reach you, beats a fast zombie any day.
"Slow. I dont consider fast zombies to be zombies at all. What he said.
(Forgive me Left 4 Dead!)"
Plus, it's creepier if a zombie was chasing you and every time you looked behind you, he was still there. Instead of a zombie just dashing toward you and mauling you in seconds.

Fast ones would scare the living shit out of me. I'm a pretty big guy and I'm not that fast.... so I'll go with slow. That way, I can have fun and pretend I'm playing Resident Evil 4 or something. Yeah.
Well, fast zombies are the coolest. They can be killed though, In the remake of Dawn of the Dead the fast ones have to be killed with a head shot, but in 28 days later the fast ones can be killed with any lethal wound. The ones in dawn of the dead are the worst kind, but they can still be killed, a team of 5 or so with proper weapons and some basic education on military stategy could survive. But the slow zombies dont make sense, because if they eat brains well then not many people would be changing into zombies because their brains would already be eaten, oh and if they ate their victims whole there would be no one to turn into zombies either....see? Maybe someone can explain things clearer if i'm wrong. The closest thing I think would be some kind of altered rabies like virus that makes people attack each other, but they still would not eat each other, but the bites would spread infection, yet the infected would only live a few days until they starved to death. Thr Day of the Dead remake was dumb but the airborne virus is not a bad idea. So it seems that zombies would ruin the story if they ate brains or human flesh cause' there would be very few attack victims whom did not get devoured or their brains eaten. But if the Zombies only attacked their victims maybe with bites, scratches, and punches, then that person could become infected right after the attack (few seconds or so) because if infection took to long there would be nothing left to infect. But ther is still the problem of the zombies starving after a couple days, anyone have any suggestions about all this?
I like for there to be both fast and slow zombies. It makes you piss yourself when someone walks all slow, right into your shotgun path, and BAM! he bolts at you and bites your head off. So badass.
I lost a lot of love for Romero's series after Night...which really seems odd when I tell people that because I am such a fan of the zombie. Although not really zombies the infected in movies like 28 Days Later are actually probably my favorite...a lot more realistic to imagine a virus driving people insane than them actually dying and then coming back. Not sure which I'd rather deal with...the infected are a lot easier to kill and probably easier to manage because they basically are humans that are just mad....the undead however aren't humans anymore at all and really knowing a sufaklsfdjasldkj OOWWWW CHARLIE HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!...
Slow. The fear comes from overwhelming numbers that you can't escape from and know that you can't stop all of them. Anything you do seems to make you believe you're just delaying the inevitable. Plus, it allows for a much larger body count.
"Slow. I dont consider fast zombies to be zombies at all.same here.
(Forgive me Left 4 Dead!)"
slow zombie is better like in all the Resident evil game, well the old one that is,newer ones are faster...so i say slow is better,it makes me scary and makes you panic. The fast one just charge at you and you keep whacking like a berzerk person, SLow one makes you panic and try to shoot them.[expially in groups],so i prefer the slow one, makes it more scary.
I prefer fast zombies etc It's easy for me to headshot them, so much more of a thrill. Years of house of the dead playing gives me a lot of experience heh heh heh Plus I can dualwield and lots of fast zombies running at you all at the same time can scare the hell out of you but to me it's fun.
I think there's been a definite pro-fast zombie shift in recent years, but personally, I think it could go either way. Slow moving zombies carry with them that slow, suspenseful dread that creeps into your soul and crushes it, but fast moving zombies are also very frightening because they're so hard to outmaneuver. They could hit you, kill you, and be gone before you even knew what happened. And of course fast moving zombies are more logical because, as we all know, zombies (were) are people too. People can move fast. Perhaps not preternaturally so, but still. (Turn a marathon runner into a zombie and he'll smoke your ass.) And fast zombies are also able to tap into that primal fear of being hunted...slow moving zombies are only difficult to deal with in high numbers. As in, you can outrun them, but there is nowhere TO run. This is when slow zombies become truly scary. In rural areas a slow moving zombie is a pretty flimsy threat; whereas fast moving zombies are a threat no matter how high the population.
...OK, I'm going to stop this before somebody realizes I've given subject this way too much thought.
Damn. Too late.

They'd actually get weaker over time. Plus, zombies aren't coordinated enough to run.
