Overview
Yoshimitsu is one of the only characters that has appeared in every
Tekken game as well as being featured in the
Soul Calibur series. He has a different appearance in every game he is featured in, although his player 2 costume is pretty similar in all games he has appeared in. He made his first appearance in the original Tekken in 1994, in which he is described as a ninja from space.
Fighting Style
Yoshimitsu uses a quick fighting style with a lot of quick stabs and points to dance around his opponents. He wields a standard katana, which enables him to use his famed "suicide attack". He is also equipped with a flag on his back in Soul Calibur, allowing him to hover for a few second above or over his opponent. Other aspects of his arsenal include the ability to teleport around his enemy and use his katana as a pogo stick to jump around and injure his enemies.
Soulcalibur Story
Yoshimitsu is the leader of the Dura-Anti Manji Clan. After his village is destroyed by a lord who he refused alliance with, he then attempts to fight the army and loses while losing his arm in the process. He then begins on the quest to obtain the famed “
Soul Edge” to get revenge on the lord and his army. When he finally reaches the sword, he realizes that he will be no better than the character known as
Nightmare and there for does not take it.
Tekken Story
Yoshimitsu appears in all the following Tekken games, his reason for entering being a combination of avenging friends and forming alliances between the Zaibatsu and Manji Party.
Tekken
In the Original
Tekken Yoshimitsu entered the tournament as a decoy so that the Tournament's funds can be stolen by other members of the Dura-Anti Manji clan.
In his ending it is shown that they have successfully robbed the Mishima Zaibatsu and give away the money to people. Cameos of Marshall Law and a young Forest Law are shown here.
Tekken 2
In
Tekken 2 Yoshimitsu enters the tournament to rescue
Doctor Boskonovitch from Kazuya Mishima, who aided him in the original Tekken. In his ending he successfully rescues Doctor Bosconovitch from a helicopter crash. It also shows his prosthetic arm and sword to hover like a helicopter.
Tekken 3
In Tekken 3 Yoshimitsu joins the the tournament in order to obtain Ogre's blood which is essential to his life. In his ending it is shown that he is with Doctor Bosconovitch experimenting with a rat with Ogre's blood. The rat grows gigantically and chases Yoshimitsu and Doctor Bosconovitch.
Tekken 4
He joins Tekken 4 as he envisions a reunion between his Manji Clan and Mishima Zaibatsu. In the ending it showed that the Manji Clan are successful in stealing Heihachi Mishima's vault.
Tekken 5
He joins Tekken 5 to gain revenge from Bryan Fury who almost kills Doctor Bosconvitch. In the ending he faces with Bryan Fury. Yoshimitsu is first attacked by Bryan's gatling gun and successfully evades. He teleports behind Bryan and slices him and makes him explode.
Tekken 6
After going after Bryan Fury, he realizes that his sword is cursed. By killing villains the sword would retain its power. He concludes not to use his old sword and use a new one, named Fukamen, and particpate in Tekken 6. In his ending he killsAzazel, though the magenta-orb that appeared afterwards possesses Yoshimitsu in the end. He slashes the temple after his corruption by the devil gene.
Trivia
- Yoshimitsu appears in Tekken the movie (2010). He is defeated by Jin after being ordered by Kazuya to kill Jin. He is portrayed by Gary Ray Sterns in the movie.
- Saved Ling Xiaoyu from Heihachi in Tekken 4.
- Yoshimitsu is the assumed name of all leaders by the Manji Clan. The name of his sword is also "Yoshimitsu" as it wields the spirits of all the former leaders of the manji clan.
- Like Heihachi, Paul and NIna, Yoshimitsu appears in all of Tekken's games.
- Yoshimitsu's appearance changes in each tournament.
- Yoshimitsu is one of the characters that knew Heihachi Mishima threw Kazuya Mishima off the cliff.
