It was released by Microsoft for their Xbox 360 (Platform) console in November 2005. The Xbox 360 controller's design was based on the 2001 Xbox (Platform) controller. In turn, the Xbox controller's design was based on Sega (Company)'s 1998 Dreamcast (Platform) controller, which in turn was based on the Sega Saturn's 1996 3D Control Pad, which in turn is similar in design to Dempa Micomsoft (Company)'s 1989 XE-1AP controller for the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) console.
