one of the best rally sims around
It improves on WRC 7 by adding more complexity to the gameplay through the management mode, as well as offering driving physics that is more sim-like than in any previous WRC game since 2005 (I've played them all). It still doesn't feel as authentic and immersive as WRC 2005 on the PS2, but that could just be my nostalgia talking I must admit, as I still think WRC 2005 is the best rally sim to date. Anyway, WRC 8 does everything right as it tries to offer some competition or complement to the Dirt Rally series. Personally, I'm more of a WRC-guy than a Codemasters-guy, partly because I don't like Codemasters as a company. So I feel I get more value for my money with WRC 8 than with Dirt Rally 2, with its obnoxious DLC policy. With WRC 8 you get a fun micromanagement mode that is complex and interesting enough for a racing-guy to interact with; if I want a strategy game I'll play Hearts of Iron or something, in a racing I want to drive. The Career mode is revamped to give you choices that mimic the reality of being a rally driver; rest, practice or drive, etc. You get a dozen or so rally locations, each unique in feel and atmosphere. It's a game that has lots of content if you are an actual WRC fan. If WRC 2005 is my #1 rally sim, WRC 8 is a good second.
