Overview

World Cup Golf: Hyatt Dorato Beach is a golf simulation game developed by Arc Developments (Company) and published by U.S. Gold for the 3DO (Platform) and DOS PCs in 1994. Set in the Hyatt Dorado Beach resort in Puerto Rico (Location), itself the host of the 1994 World Cup of Golf tournament, World Cup Golf is known for its use of digitized actors and unique use of pre-rendered 3D backgrounds (where the camera follows a single path through the course, with the golfer situated at their ball's lie instead of being at the center of the camera). It later received conversions in 1996 for the Sony PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and CD-i. The PS1 and Saturn versions, sometimes known in the box art as World Cup Golf: Professional Edition, feature a new swing interface and higher-quality sprites. Some versions of the PS1 release was published by Eidos Interactive (Company), while some were published by U.S. Gold's "U.S. Gold Sports" label. The PS1 and Saturn versions were also released in Japan by Soft Vision International (Company) and Coconuts Japan.
