The FN FNC’s design is based on the FNC 76 prototype, the FNC was adopted by the armed forces of Belgium in 1989, as a service-wide replacement for the 7.62mm-caliber FN FAL. A variation of it is manufactured in Sweden as the AK5, with AK5C and AK5D currently being in service.
