A action-adventure based on the TV series The Monsters. It was released in early 1989 for the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, MSX and ZX Spectrum home computers by Again Again (Company), a brand linked to British producers Alternative Software and Tiger Developments Entertainment . In 1993 a conversion for MS-DOS was also released by Abersoft Limited (Company).
The player controls , one at a time, characters from the Munster family with the ultimate goal of saving the kidnapped daughter Marilyn. Initially, her mother Lily is controlled, here a gray-skinned lady with magical powers, who roams the family manor with attached cemetery, now haunted by monsters and hostile ghosts. Later, depending on the level, the player controls Herman (similar to Frankenstein's monster), the grandfather (a vampire) or the house dragon. The game generally consists of exploring a labyrinth of two-dimensional rooms with a fixed profile view, connected by side passages or stairways. The controlled character walks horizontally, uses ladders, collects items and launches magic projectiles with parabola trajectory. Finding the right items is necessary to solve certain problems. Monstrous enemies are encountered everywhere, walking, floating or guarding certain entrances. There is only one life and a quantity of energy represented by an bottle, which empties upon contact with enemies. Refills can be found, but also monsters that are instantly lethal regardless of energy. Munsters can fight by firing magic bullets, but some types of enemies are immune and the player may need to find specific items or increase their powers first to beat them. The more opponents are eliminated, the more the character's ability power increases, indicated by another bottle filling. Only the phase in which the dragon is controlled differs from the structure described so far: in this case the dragon flies and breathes fire and must protect the car in which the family travels, and the game becomes a horizontal scrolling shooter.
