Players control an extended family of characters. It is through these characters that the player can manipulate the world. This family can reproduce and change in technological level. The individual characters can acquire a cultural identity as well as a unique skill set.
Players can create several different types of groups for different purposes such as government and business. They can create traded groups which allow for shares of the group to be traded, the majority shareholder chooses who operates the group. They can create appointed groups, which keep the same executive or assign the executive. And they can create covert groups, which don't reveal which family is controlling it. Characters can be assigned to these groups and wear the group's designated colours.
The map is hexagonal, and each hexagon represents a lot. Each lot can have both a group that owns it and a group that is sovereign over it. Owners do what they will with the lot while the sovereign power can zone and tax the lot. These statuses can change through conflict or sale.
All sorts of industries are present in the game such as mining, farming, manufacturing, construction, and more. The map is dynamic and can be altered by players and natural processes. Pollution can also be a factor.
With groups players can print fiat currency, this can be used as a medium of exchange. It is up to each group to decide which currencies to accept. Inflation and reserve currency benefits are inherent attributes of this feature.
