Stained Glass is a shareware puzzle game developed and released by Kent Brewster for DOS PCs in 1990. It later received a Macintosh port by Nick Schlott later that year. Combining peg solitaire with color mixing, Stained Glass gives players a 12×6 board filled with "panes" of different colors, both Primary (red, blue, and yellow) and "Secondary" (purple, orange, and green), and must jump panes over each-other to clear them, with specific criteria based on their colors. The original DOS version is a text-mode game developed for lower-end systems, while the Macintosh version is reworked with color graphics. The Macintosh version was later revamped into Tesserae (Game), reworking the graphics while adding Tertiary panes and multiple board layouts.
The objective of the game is to clear as many panes from the 12×6 board as possible by jumping panes over other panes, with the best case scenario ending up with only one pane on the board. Panes can only jump over a single other pane horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, and must follow specific criteria:
