Overview

Shuǐ Hú Fēngyún Chuán (水湖風雲傳) is an unlicensed Taiwanese side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Never Ending Soft and published by King Tec Information in 1996 for the Mega Drive. The game was later re-released in China with an altered copyright date on the title screen, 1999 instead of 1996, which is the version commonly found on the internet. An arcade version was also produced, running on Mega Drive-based hardware, but allowing for better sound sampling.

Western Release

It was announced in February of 2015 that Piko Interactive would be releasing the game for a western market as Water Margin: The Tales of Clouds and Winds, with the stolen assets in the original replaced, plus some bug fixes. This version is found on Piko Interactive Collection 1 (Game) for Evercade (Platform) as well as Beat 'Em Up Collection: QUByte Classics.
