Konami, Q*Bert's distributor in Japan, produced a licensed sequel in 1986, titled Q*Bert (just as the original) for Japan and Europe. Gameplay is similar to Q*Bert's Qubes, but with some major differences. The titular Q*Bert is not present, rather, the player controls a Dragon named Wrappy. There are 50 rounds, which each have a different layout.
Wrappy must rotate blocks to a specified position by jumping on them once, or multiple times. Once they are properly rotated, they become a wireframe block, and are "locked" into place (they can't be undone, unlike in Qubes). Enemies resemble ghosts and Moai heads. Additionally, there are several powerup balls, which allow longer jumps, faster speed, invincibility, and wiping out all enemies.
This version of Q*Bert is the only one which contains competitive, simultaneous multiplayer. Each player tries to rotate blocks faster to win. Players may undo opponents' moves, and knock eachother from the game area.
