Mario Kart: Arcade GP VR is a first-person VR kart racer developed and released by Bandai Namco (in conjunction with Nintendo) for arcades in Japan on July 14, 2017. Released exclusively at VR ZONE and VR ZONE Portal locations, it received a worldwide release in Europe (on August 3, 2018) and North America (on October 1, 2018). An arcade spin-off of the Mario Kart (Franchise) series (and itself a spin-off of the Mario Kart: Arcade GP sub-series), Arcade GP VR uses a full-body kart controller and the HTC Vive (Accessory) to loosely simulate the Mario Kart experience. Items can be acquired and used by making arm gestures. Unlike other games in the Mario Kart: Arcade GP VR series, the game only includes a single large one-lap track, and a very limited amount of characters, items, and features. Only four characters are playable (Mario (Character), Luigi (Character), Peach, and Yoshi (Character)), with character choice being determined by which of the four linked machines is being used. Bowser (Character) and Wario (Character) also appear as CPU-controlled racers.
