Overview

Major Title is a golf simulation game developed and released by Irem for arcades (running a modified version of their M72 hardware) in 1990. Compared to other golf games released for arcades at the time, Major Title is known for its simplistic gameplay, where players can freely alter the power and accuracy of their shot before swinging. It's also known for its mixed camera perspective (switching from an over-the-shoulder perspective to a top-down perspective to track the ball), an optional match play gamemode, and unique continue system (where exceptional performance rewards the player with additional game time). The game received a sequel in 1992, which was also ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Platform). After Irem ceased development of video games in the mid-'90s, a group of employees formed Nazca and released the game's better-known spiritual successor: Neo Turf Masters (Game).
