Story

Frog Hop is a 2D platformer where the player bounces on enemies' heads and swings across stages using their tongue. Players take control of Hoppy on his venture to reunite with his friend Jumpy. Hoppy must progress through five worlds of multiple stages, each with their own theme, before his quest is complete.

Gameplay

While jumping on enemies is core to Frog Hop's gameplay, there are also unique mechanics which include a charging jump and several moves using Hoppy's tongue. Enemies can be stunned, health can be picked up, and projectiles can be deflected all with precise tongue licking. Different insects are spread throughout the levels which enhance Hoppy's abilities and allow access to hidden areas.

Progression

As the player progresses, charms can be unlocked which add their own abilities to aid the player. Charms are purchased with gems, which are collected in stages and add an extra objective beyond simple level completion. In addition, gems can be used to buy cosmetics for aesthetic enjoyment. Boss fights bookend each of the game's five worlds. Each world includes one branched path, offering the player a choice on how they wish to progress. All completed or skipped levels can be replayed from the world map.

Art & Music

Frog Hop features an original soundtrack of over 50 songs and a variety of sound effects. The art style is heavily retro with a focus on small, pixelated sprites.

Development

Developed by a single developer, Frog Hop is a long-term project that took 4+ years to make. What started out as a "simple" platforming adventure became the first major release of Tiny Warrior Games. The developer will occasionally release videos on youtube or stream on Twitch detailing information about the Frog Hop development process, as well as other game projects.
