Overview

ATV Track (also known as ATV Track >2M2#©]: Quads on Amazon) is a quad-bike racing game developed and released by Gaelco for arcades in 2002, with North American distribution handled by Namco (Company). In ATV Track, players race the clock through South America (along the Amazon River), front-and-back, on an all-terrain vehicle. Similar to Radikal Bikers (Game) and Smashing Drive (Game), the game includes a linear lap system where each of the four stages (or "Circuits") have three laps (or "Stages") with a small break in-between each Stage. Unique to the game is the "Route Control" system, where players are disqualified in the main Competition mode if they fail to reach three checkpoints in time on a single Circuit, ending their credit. This mechanic utilizes a separate timer extension (which extends on each checkpoint) on top of the main countdown timer, and the "Zone" between two checkpoints are considered a "fail" if the main timer ticks down. The game uses a custom deluxe sit-down cabinet resembling a quad-bike.

Circuits & Modes

In the game, players can attempt all four stages (or "Circuits") consecutively in Competition mode, or play one of the Circuits on its own in Practice mode. Each Circuit has three linear laps (or "Stages"), with each Stage having five checkpoints (or "Zones"). The Hard and X-Hard Routes are the reversed versions of the Medium and Easy Routes. The X-Hard Route is not playable in Practice mode.

Both modes have some other minor differences:

Competition mode utilizes the "Route Control" system, ending the player's credit if they receive three disqualifications in one Circuit. It is also scored (in "Km", based both on distance traveled and special tokens collected), allowing players to enter the high score table while tracking the highest score for each Stage on that day.
Practice mode instead ends the player's credit at the end of the chosen Route. This mode is unscored, instead tracking the player's efficiency on each Zone ("OK!" for having extended time remaining, "REG" for having it depleted, and "BAD" for using up the main timer). At the end of each Circuit, players are graded based on each Zone's efficiency.

Both modes end the player's credit if the main game timer expires.
