Overview
38-0 is a free, browser-based Premier League draft game where players build an all-time XI from legendary players across every era of English top-flight football. The game uses a Monte Carlo simulation engine to project how the selected team would perform across a full 38-match season.
Gameplay
The core loop works as follows:
1. Spin a wheel which lands on a real Premier League club and season (e.g., Arsenal 2003-04, Leicester 2015-16, or even mid-table sides like Watford 2018-19). 2. Draft one player from that squad. Repeat until all 11 positions are filled. 3. Pick a formation from multiple options (4-3-3, 4-4-2, 3-5-2, and more). 4. Run the simulator — 1,000 Monte Carlo seasons modeled with a Poisson goal distribution, weighing formation fit, position fit, and legend chemistry.
Simulation Engine
The match engine models each game as a Poisson distribution, where expected goals are derived from squad ratings. Formation fit and position fit matter — a striker forced into goal will tank results. Club chemistry provides bonuses for players who shared a real club season.
Two modes are available:
- Classic — ratings visible
- Expert — ratings hidden, testing pure football knowledge
