Largo LaGrande is named after the city Monkey Island developer Ron Gilbert grew up, La Grande, Oregon. LaGrande was a local bully on Scabb Island, preventing ships from leaving (The situation which suitably got named "Largo Embargo"). This has not made Largo LaGrande popular, the inhabitants of Scabb Island loathe him.
