Overview
Viridian Forest can be found just north of Viridian City (Location). It is the earliest point you can find Pikachus in Red and Blue. Other Pokémon that can be found in the area are Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Pidgey and Pidgeotto.
Version Exclusives
Pokemon Red/Blue
In the original games Weedle is common in Red and rare in Blue, whereas Caterpie is rare in Red and common in Blue. This applies to their evolutions as well.
Pokemon Yellow
You can not find Pikachu (Concept) in Pokemon Yellow, but in that game you start with one already.
Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen
In Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Caterpie and Weedle are equally common, but the version specific rarities apply to their evolutions.
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver
In Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Caterpie line is completely exlusive to HeartGold and the Weedle line is exclusive to SoulSilver.
In most of the games, all Pokemon Trainers encountered in the area are Bug Catchers.
