    Geographical Features

    Virginia is estimated in size to be 42,774 square miles. The state is separated into five regions: The Tidewater, Piedmont, Blue Ridge Mountain, Ridge and Valley, and the Appalachian Plateau. The states meets the Atlantic Ocean on the Eastern edge and is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Western region. The capital of Virginia is Richmond.
