I originally hadn't planned on building a new PC until later this year. However, it was Watch Dogs that caused me to build now. That is definitely the first "Next Gen" game I've been interested in that has really raised the bar when it comes to the hardware that is needed to run it even moderately well. With my new PC, I should be able to run it on Ultra. :D :D :D
There are a number of other undoubtedly hardware-demanding games coming out this fall or (hopefully) early next year that I am very excited to play on PC such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Far Cry 4, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The Division, Star Citizen. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before I had to upgrade my almost five year old PC (even though I did update my graphics card last year to hold out longer for my new PC...).

Since Watch Dogs is not out, yet, though, I really thought hard about what was going to be the first game I played on my new PC. And it was...
Crysis...the first one...from 2007...
Even though the game is from 2007, though, I am amazed at how great it still looks (at highest settings).

I have owned it for several years, but I never played it until now. The main reason I never played it before is because I knew it was so demanding on hardware and didn't want to play it on lower settings or have a bad framerate. Now, though, I obviously have no issues...

The other reason I never played it before is because I don't play a lot of FPS's that are solely focused on the shooting mechanics (as opposed to stealth like Dishonored or story like BioShock). It's the same reason I've yet to play any Modern Warfare games, though they are still on my backlog.
I am definitely enjoying Crysis so far, though I get a little tired of it each night after about an hour, mainly due to the fact that there isn't a lot of variety in the activity. One reason I loved Far Cry 3 was due to all of the variety in activities: doing missions, clearing out enemy bases, hunting, gliding around without worry of being demolished by a bunch of enemies (as I cleared more and more enemy bases out).
I am happy with playing Crysis as the first game with my new PC, though I am basically just biding my time until Watch Dogs is out... I am going to play through the entire Crysis series in between other games, but the next game in the franchise will at least have to wait until I finish both Watch Dogs, Transistor, and likely Murdered: Soul Suspect. :)
