Requiescat in Pace, Magnus Vir

I don't need to tell you guys how amazing of a fellow Ryan Davis was, nor do I think I could ever do him justice. I never met the man; never even had a conversation with him. Yet right now I'm sitting here having thought, read stories, and watched videos about the man all day and tears are running down my face. Even though I never had a single second of communication with Ryan, his passing has completely torn my insides apart.

I adored Ryan for his sense of humor and the endless joy he seemed to emanate. Sentiments which have all been voiced by people who are far more suited to than me. At this point I'm just another voice in the echo chamber, but the louder it is in there, the better.

The bizarre thing about this is that for me Ryan was limited to the persona that was delivered to me through microphones, cameras, speakers, and monitors. But in all those forms he came off so naturally I can only guess I was seeing the real man. With all these years of the countless Giant Bomb media I've ingested they've become a regular part of my life. I look forward to watching a video or reading an article while drinking my coffee and eating breakfast. It's kind of a little creepy when I think about it. Like I'm a member of the audience to some kind of Truman Show. But you know what Ryan Davis, you were my friend, in many ways a role model, and I loved you. The fact that I will never again hear you laugh or tell me what day it is breaks my heart. All of my condolences go out to the Giant Bomb guys, Ryan's friends and family. I can't begin to understand how you feel.
