Maybe I jinxed it

hooked up my home computer to my flat screen TV to give it a shot. It was fun, but it was too hard to play. I also had problems getting the Dolby 5.1 working with my sound system. While the game was still playable, it just wasn't the same. I'm faster on my notebook or on my gaming rig. I can't seem to play at the same level when I'm playing on the TV.
I also got a solid state drive (SSD) for my laptop. Instead of playing last night, I was reinstalling Windows and getting the computer set up. It feels really quick when switching between applications, but I miss some of the Alienware customizations. I still have the old drive, so I can get all the information and customizations off of it, but I'd rather be doing something else (like playing StarCraft II) instead of working on computers. It's just too much like my real job.
Also, since I don't have everything configured quite right on the notebook since the remformat, that was also causing issues. I didn't have the right mouse driver, so the screen kept scrolling off to one side because I happened to rest my thumb on the trackpad. The mouse acceleration and the sensitivity seemed off, too. I don't think any of these things actually caused me to lose, but I think it was enough to annoy me. I probably should not have been playing anyway.
Tonight, I mostly played some 3v3 with my old college roommage Jason and his friend from Barstow. We made it out of the placement matches, but we were only Bronze. Still, we seem to be managing well. I think we still need a lot of work, and Khai carries the team, but it's a lot of fun.
After we quit, I played some 1v1 to get back into the hang of things. I won a game on Steppes of War when my opponent tried to expand. Since I saw he was expanding, I rushed. the map is so small that I don't think he has a valid strategy. I won after the first wave wiped out most of his units.
The second game was on Scrap Station. I tried for a marine push, but I just lost. I think my opponent expanded to the high-yield minerals and just kept coming.
The third game was a Terran vs. Zerg on Steppes of War. Since he was Zerg, I walled off, in case he went for a 6-pool rush. My scout barely got out when he attacked with all his zerglings and drones. I almost lost. My marine came out and started firing, and I sent my SCVs to repair the wall. I don't know if there were going to get there in time, but he gave up and gg'ed.
The fourth game on Scrap Station was a Zerg vs. Terran game. I didn't know the right build order, so I went for zerglings with the metabolic boost upgrade. I managed to find his marines en router to my base, and I had made some banelings, so I was able to take out a lot of his army. I started making mutalisks, and harassed his base right as he pushed to attack mine. I didn't fly back to defend my base. Instead, I created spine crawlers at my expansion and used the mutalisks to take out most of his SCVs and his orbital command. Usually it's not a good idea to do a base trade with a Terran player. In this case, after I took out his orbital command, I retreated to try and defend my expansion base. I was able to pick off most of his marines, so that when my mutalisks were attacking the rest of his army, his marauders were defenseless and getting slaughtered. I barely won this game.
After that game, I played a Terran mirror match on Lost Temple. I tried to go mass marines, but it didn't work out so well. I did that because he fast expanded, but I didn't do well enough to take out his base. By the time my second base was there, he had fully repaired the orbital command. It basically went downhill from there. I fought valiantly, but I think his better macro just sealed the game.
My final game of the night was Protoss vs. Terran on Metalopolis. I started by making a lot of gateway units, but I don't control them that well. I was trying to do what Day[9] suggested in his Tuesday podcast, so that I would gradually get faster at this game. It's hard to get used to, especially trying to use the Shift+F% through F8 keys to save camera locations. The idea is that it makes it easier to shift-click back to your base so your SCVs don't sit idle. I was able to do it sometimes, but I had a lot of problems with the multitasking. I basically kept expanding, and was capped with a 200-psi army. There wasn't much he could do when he started to run out of money. I already had my third base online. I don't think my micro kills were very good this game, but at least I was able to keep most of the game straight as the night went on.
Overall, I was 4-2 for the night. While it's not that bad, I really felt like I should have beaten all of the players. I hope to increase my win-loss ratio so I start getting matched with Gold division players again. After all the games tonight, I am still 4th in Silver division.
