Today marks the first of my two days off and as I stated previously, I have spent a scary amount of time on my iMac. Here's the rundown!
- Woke up at 6:30AM.
- Walked my dog.
- Sat down at my iMac from like 7:00AM - 1:00PM.
- Played Shadows of the Damned for about an hour. (That game's pretty good expect a review when I've finished it)
- Sat back down at my iMac from 2:00PM - Now,
Dude I don't know if you know this, but that's like 12 hours. I think thats the longest I have spent on any computer/laptop in my life in the span of a day, I don't know if your sitting there going "Sheesh, that's nothing!" or "Man that guy needs help!" but either way its a pretty long time. So what have I been doing on my iMac? Ok so at the start of the day I bought a password app from the Mac App Store called "mSecure", it was like £11 or something stupid like that, but thats the problem with buying things off of the app store, it doesn't seem like I'm buying things. Anyway what it does is you input all of your passwords/account information/bank details/birthdays and any information you so desire and then becomes a huge page full of every piece of information you wish to know. It's laid out fairly well and you can even add images next to each one, so for example I have the Facebook icon next to my Facebook details. I over the years have joined countless websites, the information to log in was all on sticky notes before, but now its all in one central place, pretty handy.
I then went and personalised the Dock, i got rid of all the app's I knew I would never touch. All those movie editing and music recording and useless junk is now off the dock. I also added some onto the dock, one of those is Alfred. I had heard some good things about Alfred, and the remarks made about it were quite accurate. It is a much faster way of getting to an app or folder or website than the default Finder app. Plus on top of that Alfred is free, so I recommend Alfred to all Mac Users. I then went and put Steam on there, I at one point had like 10 games in my basket, but then I took them all out and was just left with Braid. I'd never played Braid before, so it was great to play a good cheap game that was really good. I didn't play to much of it because my game time was spent with another game I'll discuss in more detail in another blog.
I then changed all my email accounts on the websites I visit to a single account, before they were all under two but now there under just one. I then worked out how to add pages to the bookmark bar and now most of the sites I visit, I haven't worked out how to make a homepage yet but I'll do that soon enough, Then my time was spent fleshing out profiles on various sites, you might have noticed that my "See Mini Bio" section has been filled out. If you want to contact me check that out and it has links to various places to find me. I managed to log into my old Twitter account and synched my account to all Whiskey Media sites. I never really used Twitter before but now I've got it back i followed a bunch of people and am starting to really enjoy Twitter. You can follow me here if you so wish, that link is pretty big to me to because since getting my iMac I've been figuring out how to do basic internet things such as adding links into words instead of the website URL linked.
I put all my music onto iTunes and all my photo's onto iPhoto, took a while transfaring but the Screened Podcast kept me going. You also may have found that during today I wrote a review for Wii Play Motion, you can find that here. You may also have noticed that since owning my iMac, My blogs have been quite long, that's because I really do love this keyboard! I've been able to type like a madman, at long last my fingers are able to keep up with my mind. I can't type with two hands at the same time but I can still type pretty fast. And then the rest of my day was spent playing The Sims 3, I'll do a blog about that tomorrow and I'll go through the various adventures of The Vanderbosh's!
Incase you haven't guessed, I think the iMac's pretty great.
