ON THE BATTLEFIELD WITH BAD COMPANY!

Hello there friend, I hope your well. Are you? Well that's super. Anyway, today I want to talk a little about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 bought to you from the fine folks at DICE. who are from Sweden, which I think is wonderful. So as some of you might know if you have read some of my more recent previous blog entries, I have a new gaming PC which is running like a charm and like any self-respecting PC builder whose just spent good money putting it all together, I wanted to test it out on some games. Now I've done the usual collection of games, yes that includes Crysis which no matter how good it looks, is still a pretty weak game. But I was also fascinated to see how Battlefield: Bad Company 2 would look on the PC. After all, it's easy to just judge it as a port. But this is DICE we're talking about, the folks who bought us the superb Battlefield 2 on PC.

I'm sure Pvt. Terrence Sweetwater would agree with me, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a pretty bad ass game. So I had some high hopes mixed with a dash of cautiousness, don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed the original Bad Company, in particular it's fine single player campaign. But on console I found the controls and general feel to be pretty awful at times, that's me speaking though. I shall admit to being a keyboard and mouse person when it comes to competitive first-person shooters, give me Modern Warfare on PC and I'll do pretty damn well but when I have a controller in hand I sort of suck in a not funny at all sort of way. But I do love me some Battlefield, and with still little news of Battlefield 3 on the horizon I felt that Bad Company 2's multiplayer offerings would scratch my ever present team working FPS itch.

Now I shall be writing up a separate review of the game at some point, so I won't go into exact details. But my general feeling is that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is pretty bad ass, so much so that I've sort of realised just how average an experience Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was. That's a pretty bold thing to say and I wouldn't say it if I didn't feel it was true, but it doesn't surprise me that many Modern Warfare 2 veterans are leaving to experience DICE's take on the modern setting for warfare. True the single player isn't as memorable as the original, and the PC version as a few graphically glitches, but I think it's obvious where DICE believe the most fun will be had with this game, it's all about the multiplayer. It as to be said that the PC controls are wonderful, I'd almost say they were perfect for the way I play my first-person shooters.

Bad Company 2 is openly taking on Modern Warfare 2, and what better time to rise to the occasion then now with the mess that's going down at Infinity Ward right now. I'll not lie, I would love me some Battlefield 3 at some point. Though one as to wonder if that would be a PC exclusive game considering piracy and the user base of gamers preferring consoles. Saying that the Bad Company 2 multiplayer PC community is strong, which is no great shock considering the dedication PC gamers had and still have for Battlefield 2. Time will tell, maybe we might even hear something at this years E3, but we have to consider the fact that DICE are working on the multiplayer mode for EA's Medal of Honor reboot. Overall I've been rather impressed by Bad Company 2, find out how much so when I actually get around to writing a review at some point.

Connecting To The Rock Band Network

To end this blog I wanted to talk a tiny bit about the Rock Band Network, now it's been up for a good few weeks now and there are already an impressive selection of tracks for Rock Band players to download. I'm such a player, while I don't have the biggest catalogue of tracks compared to some of the more dedicated players, my collection currently consists of over 700 songs which I think proves that I'm an intrigued customer. Honestly though, I've yet to spend a Microsoft point in the RBN store. That's not because I don't want to, it's because I just spent enough cash on a pricey new PC and simply couldn't afford to. But I'm hoping to soon start purchasing a good selection of tracks, I already have some in mind but am willing to listen to recommendations if anyone as any.  It's funny really, I'm not big on downloadable content with most games, yet I've always felt that the money I've spent on my Rock Band catalogue is money well spent. After all, I've already had my moneys worth with 95 percent of the songs I've downloaded. It's one of those games you keep coming back to on a daily basis and as yet to grow old for me.

To finish this blog, I felt it was only right to have a pleasant sing-a-long to arguably one of the best tracks currently available on the Rock Band Network.
