I was too tired to get into games last night.

Was headed to the usual wackiness that ensues on Wednesdays for me but got a call late in the day from Mommy that she was wondering if I could keep an eye on the little guy last night. To which I said, "hell yes." Long story short, because I have nothing of interest to report, I had alot of fun taking care of Parker. Around 10 I headed home and tried to play ME2 to no avail, both because its super hard and I was tired.

The only thing of note I've seen today in the video game world is the official announcement of Sonic the Hedgehog 4.  I'll preface my comments with , I fought in the trenches for the Nintendo side of the video game world in the mid to late 80's and 90's. I've liked what I've played of Sonic, which includes Sonic 1, 2, 3, sonic and knuckles, and sonic spinball.  But, once they started introducing more and more characters to this failed furry sit-com I checked out. I understand Sonic Adventure was great but every game since then has done a tail spin into irrelevancy.

Now we have Sonic 4, which it seems will be episodic. It will be a sidescroller like old school sonic but have 3d backgrounds (think Street Fighter 4 I guess.) This project even seems dated. I feel like the opportunity for a Sonic rebirth is about 8 years and 3 chances too late. From what little I've seen this seems like a retro game that will be popping up on PSN, XBL and Wii Ware, but I don't see this being much more then fan service to those veterans of the console wars to play and remember the first time they fired up their Genesis and held down right on the D-pad.

Tonight a couple of beers with friends then maybe a little Modern Warfare 2 or ME2 if I'm feeling nasty.
