I'm sitting here at work patiently awaiting for a snowstorm that will hit Columbus with a righteous fury. Personally I'm alright with city crippling snowstorms, we get along just fine. I'm sitting here at work patiently awaiting for a snowstorm that will hit Columbus with a righteous fury. Personally I'm alright with city crippling snowstorms, we get along just fine. For instance, the fervor of me and some of my friends for Super Smash Brothers Brawl was so high, I trekked 6 hours (usually takes me 2.5) to go from my old place to Columbus, through a mother fucking blizzard, to pick that game up and play with my college friends.

To keep me sane on this perilous journey I listened to a whole week's worth of 1up.com podcasts while making the trek. When I arrived I dropped my shit and required liberal amounds of bourbon, luckily my friends could oblige and it ended in one of the better Rock Band parties on file. I arrived on Friday, sat around his place got snow plowed into my car over these 3 days.

At midnight, we all piled in the best car available (my friend John's) and we made the trip to GameCrazy. I should mention here that all this driving is taking place during a level 2 snow emergency, in Ohio you can get fined or jailed for being on the roads if you don't have a good enough reason, we can all agree Brawl is worth a night in county when you have 4 people to play.  Anyway we made the trip at midnight found an open store, bought 3 copies of the game and returned to his place. We played until 4 or 5 called it a night and the Blizzard cleared the next morning and we were all able to leave to our respective homes.

This story reminds me of another, snow/video game story. A friend of mine who shall remain nameless is a Ninendo fanboy through and through. Like to the point where if we ended up rooming together I would've found my xbox in pieces on the sidewalk, and this hombre was crazy enough to do it.

He asked another friend of mine to take him on the usually 20 minute drive to get the prerelease Demo of Windwaker for the 'Cube. Again we're talking level 2 snow emergency, but this one...for a damned demo during our expedition at least we had a full game to look forward to, dude did all that for a demo.

Tonight I'm either out with friends or killing a Mastodon to stay warm,  laying Mass Effect 2 on Insane. It really is satisfying to get through a normal, boring combat situation, even if it does take a week.to get through random encounters its still an amazing feeling to really outwit enemies that can bend bullets have have a gun that spits fire. Just kind of wish my squad mates didn't require 3 orders and 2 medi-gel to get the whole "cover" thing.
