A fan's earnest prayer...

Insane mode is like asking your well meaning girlfriend to be brutally honest with you. They're going to point out all the stupid shit you do but you'll still want to come back for more. I played through the first time on Normal. I didn't want to be too stressed playing this game I've waited for for 2 years for I wanted to simply be given a Coke and some popcorn and watch my Space Jack Bauer do...

I played through the first time on Normal. I didn't want to be too stressed playing this game I've waited for for 2 years for I wanted to simply be given a Coke and some popcorn and watch my Space Jack Bauer do his thing. After that its like, shit I can save the galaxy how hard can insane be? The answer.... brutal. Let alone the fact that I didn't realize you had to respend points on your fellow team members. I just picked up Mordin and I'm on my way to collect Archangel.

Recently, Bioware announced they were involved in a partnership with an unknown film studio to put out a Mass Effect movie. This is an IP that I adore and hold in the highest regard. That being said, I'm worried its that fanboy that is making me excited that this movie, assuming it is a reality, won't be complete space shit.  None of the other franchises that have gone to the big screen have really been beloved by me, hell I don't know what the story of any fighting game is (I've seen Dead or Alive) don't care about Bloodrayne, didn't know Far Cry was a movie until it appeared on Netflix instant queue, and the one I do adore, Super Mario Brothers, is the thinnest and most elegant premise for video game ever which begs the question...Why would you fuck with that? They respond simply with, "We love money."

I think ME is in a unique position in that its high budget, high concept but still niche enough to have a built in base of interest. If you give it to a competent director who's a fan of the series, stick with the writers who put the game and novels together, and get a producer that can hold all this together, then you'll have an acceptable movie that fans will appreciate and the general public might just enjoy. Also put it in 3d a la Avatar, I'm sure James Cameron can help with that, he's not going to do a movie for 10 years, what's he doing?

Here's hoping I'm wrong, but from my facebook is my prediction for the plot of the movie.

"Oh yea instead of the Galaxy they'll have to save a small mountain town from terrorists, Shepard will be played by Tom Selleck, Samuel L Jackson will be the streetwise cop with a shady past and a heart of gold, and Shia La Bouf (or however you spell it) will play a whiny kid/computer expert."

If the above is not a movie, please Hollywood make it so because I'd like to see it, just not with the Mass Effect label on it.

When I'm not laying down in front of the train tracks of ME2 or in talks with Selleck's people, I'm dusting off my Wii for a little Mario lovin'. Working my way through New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a delight, I still get that huge grin on my face when I play it that reminds me of a wonderful time when I first picked up a controller and I wish my son were aware enough to enjoy it with me. I really enjoy the new walk down memory lane its a fantastic respite from the disc in my Xbox, and great for lunch breaks (when you work from home.) Before I go to sleep I may run through a few more levels putting me well past bed time.

Nerds, I would like to take this moment to provide you with the best tattoo you've ever seen. In the words of Liz Lemon, "I want to go to there." Thank you Jim Smash! Death Star Tattoo
