Giant Bomb - a website about video games and the people that make them

mracoon's Articles

I do a tumblr where every now and then I post interesting and cool start screens from video games. Over the weekend I had some free time so I decided to try my hand at video editing (if you can call putting clips together in Windows Movie Maker editing) and compiled 62 start / title screens from games that came out this year. I've covered most of the AAA titles and indie standouts but some game...

Many other people have written much, much better things about Ryan Davis than I ever will but sometimes you just need to write your thoughts down on even if they're incomprehensible. --- "Ryan Davis can't die." Those were my thoughts when reading the news story about Ryan's tragic death last week. "But it's Ryan motherfucking Davis" I kept thinking as I tried to make sense of it all. When you w...

For those of you that don't know (which I expect to be everyone except the one duder who goes to my uni), I do a VGM radio show on my university/community FM radio station . As term has now finished and I am back home for the holidays, the show is on a break until the new school year starts. While I've got all this free time I thought it would be useful to make note of any great VGM I come acro...

I like video games. I like buying them, playing them, discussing them but I always have a problem finishing them. As a child of the internet age I've come to the realisation that I have a short attention span and that means if a game doesn't fully grab my interest, I tend to drift away from it. And it's not as though the games were bad or that I didn't enjoy them it's just that, for some reason...

A few hours to go until the start of 2011 so what better time to post my Best of 2010 list. Best of 2010 1. Mass Effect 2 At first, I was not a fan of many of the changes made to Mass Effect 2 from Mass Effect 1. The focus from RPG to Third-Person Shooter slightly annoyed me but as I got deeper into the game that slowly went away and all that I was left with was a sense of awe. Few games can ma...

After seeing PSEG's awesome work on tracking community Quests I felt like taking a close look at my own Quest progress. Quest Finishing Positions (In Descending Order of Rarity) Average Quest Completion Position: 353 Finishing Position Over Time (In Order of When I Completed Them) Not too bad, I think. Generally, I complete Quests quite quickly if I'm at online at the time but there are those f...

365 Games To Play Before You Die Exams are over and summer has begun so I can finally get back to finishing this. I've got to get through 245 games in 18 days if I want to stick finishing this ordeal in one year and in time for GB's 2nd Birthday. From now on I'm only going to focus on the important games and all the other games in-between will be in a handy list. So where did we leave off? RPGs...

365 Games To Play Before You Die 100 games! Yes, 100 whole games. 365 Games To Play Before You Die I seem to be increasing the time between each of these blog posts which means I end up having to write about 18 games in one blog when I originally planned to focus on each of them individually. I quickly realised that plan was infeasible, so for the games I have less affinity towards I'll jam them in with others but for those stand out titles I'll make the extr...

365 Games To Play Before You Die I seem to be increasing the time between each blog but it's only because I've been quite busy lately. Whatever your take on them they're here to stay and they've been stayi...

365 Games To Play Before You Die I'm going back to the start with some of the original gaming classics. 365 Games To Play Before You Die I'm kind of cheating by doing 4 games in one day but I have a good excuse. I'm going away for the weekend so I won't be here on Friday, Saturday or Sunday so I thought I'd just cram them all in to one blog post and get them over with. 365 Games To Play Before You Die Well GB has reached the 1 year milestone so I thought it was finally time to do a proper, continual blog. I'm not the kind of guy to write in-depth blog posts about what's happening in my life or trends in the game industry or anything like that but I wanted something that a feature where I could talk about games I like and keep it going. As there's 365 days in...

Yeah I said it, I don't like booth babes. I mean they have nothing to do with games (maybe they're acceptable at the DoA and Soul Calibur stands) and they just take space.

If I had the money then I'd always buy new games as it helps the developers. As I don't I'm not going to spend £40/$60 on a game that I might not get much enjoyment or replay value out of. I can understand why developers don't like it as they don't see any share of the profits but we're just like them as we're trying to get the most out of our money.

Almost any game by Tim Schaefer is hilarious but Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island series are his funniest games.

Please, please, please let this game come out next year. Maybe with Portal 2, it could be called the Turquoise Box.

He may not be able to talk but then that's what Alyx is for. What can be better then having to genius scientists, who've saved the world several times from an alien race, in the White House.
