Subscriptions Suck.

MMOs are the most extensive, expansive, and impressive of all genres in the gaming universe. However, one nagging problem I see with them is the subscription. Yes, this does sound like complaining, but complain I must. Why must a pay a base fee for the actual game and then pay extra to actually play it? MMOs are the most extensive, expansive, and impressive of all genres in the gaming universe. However, one nagging problem I see with them is the subscription. Yes, this does sound like complaining, but complain I must. Why must a pay a base fee for the actual game and then pay extra to actually play it? I understand that server maintaince is very costly and companies need to make a profit. But in these economic times, a student such as myself cannot afford these subscription fees on top of normal living expensives (and the weak Canadian dollar). Nowadays I don't mind this as much but the fact I have to pay for when I'm not even playing irks me. (The only reason why I quit WoW, I throughly enjoyed it) Then a light from heaven beamed down: Aion. The system that Aion put out seems like the perfect system: pay as you play. For people who cannot loot for 20 hours a day, this system seems so awesome. However, just like all good things in life theres a catch. THIS IS ONLY FOR KOREA/CHINA. I mean wtf? I was considering to buy this game mainly because of their payment system but then this announcement comes along and the game in EU/NA is subscription based. Back to square one i guess. Ugh. I just hope that Old Republic isnt subscription based or I'm going to lose hope and give up on the MMO genre.
