I consider candidates for the playing of old games.
Hello all. Instead of randomly reviewing whatever old (or old-ish) game comes in my path, I have decided to use the power of Democracy to choose my next game (this is secretly also to get more views). Hello all. Instead of randomly reviewing whatever old (or old-ish) game comes in my path, I have decided to use the power of Democracy to choose my next game (this is secretly also to get more views). Sadly I can't make a poll in a blog, so you will have to telegraph your answer by actually posting. Because I am a bit of a tightwad, most of these games are available on the virtual console, or I already own them in some fashion. I will probably be doing multiple blogs, so 2nd place also has a chance. Well then, let's get down to business!
1. Perfect Dark
It's like Goldeneye but with a terrible framerate! Expansion Pack Required Yes, I am fully aware that the XBLA remake is coming out soon. However, I already have the N64 version (which I haven't played a ton of) in hand and want to play the game as it was originally made, as opposed to one that has been polished up and re-released for the modern era. I have already established that I think Goldeneye is alright despite the fact that it's totally janky and the control scheme hasn't aged very well, so it will be interesting to see how Rare's other first person shooter holds up.2. Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu
Strategy? Blue Hair? Wow. I spelled it right on the first try! For those who don't know, this is actually the 4th game in the somewhat niche strategy RPG series and if you haven't figured out already, it's Japan only (It's also fellow blog-reviewman Video Game King's favorite game of all time or something to that effect). However, through certain illicit methods I have not only obtained this game but also have the ability to play it in English. Considering that I am already almost halfway through it, this option is less of a "Should I bother playing this game?" and more of a "Should I bother writing a blog about it?". Since most of you only know Fire Emblem as "Where that Marf guy in the Smash Bro come from." I'm guessing not. Still putting it out there though.
3. Super Metroid
Super. Duper. I expect this to be the popular choice, considering that this is one of the few games on the list that everyone seems to have heard of in some capacity, with hushed, reverent tones. I have already played Symphony of the Night, so I know how awesome that game is (very). However, this game seems like something that I should have bought on the virtual console a while ago, especially when Shadow Complex was relevant back in august. Nonetheless, If I were to get a wii points card I would probably purchase this because I need to pretend that my wii has a use other than to play Gamecube games and collect dust.
4. Jade Empire
Hey, you kids like the Mass Effect, right? Well this is like that, but with ninjas or something. This game, being the only Bioware RPG I haven't played very much of, seems like a viable candidate to me. Of course, when people talk about the "good" Bioware games, they usually leave this one off the list, which intrigues me. What makes it bad? Or maybe it isn't bad? Either way, I have a copy and I figure I should get some use out of it. So that's my list. For the record, I am also interested in Ogre Battle, Shining Force, and... Final Fantasy VI (which I also already own). Alrighty then, get to voting!
