Konami PRE-E3 Disappointment

Pre-Screening Press Conference Archived Live Once Again? I had often avoid Konami Press Conferences due to how corny and lame it is. Last year was the worst Press Conference that they produced, heck even better than James Cameron's sermons. Though I haven't watch much of it, only a few bits and pieces and would not watch the whole thing due to seeing it's PRE-RECORDED which that made me not watch it. I cannot fathom how terrible that idea of recording your live show and then freaking streaming it around 5 PM - 8 PM (PST/EST) Time. It's like last year with then watching the press conference to non-press members or that the Press didn't really caught wind of it when they are at E3 covering better games.
Aside from Japanese Dudes' heading heads and a bit with Mega64. The game coverage compared to last year's coverage is way better - the fact that they didn't show crap like Ninety-Nine Nights or DanceMasters but still Snake Eater 3D looks stupid and the length of Pro Evolution Soccer was hysterical. The press conference is basically a mash-ups of trailers, interviews and developer diaries which is lazy.
Anyways here is what I thought about each "nine games" that they are showing right now according to the Konami Press Conference "thread""
Silent Hill: Downpour - I don't really know much of this game; it's has hidden under my radar even though I was out of the gaming for a while. It seems like Vatra Games is developing this game and hopefully this is a incentive that it will get better than the previous games, both control and gameplay wise. For the gameplay, it looks like it's more open-world"ed" than the previous Silent Hill installments. The new feature is the transportation feature where you can access a "subway" to transport you from place to place in Silent Hill. The other feature however, is a feature that "degrades the use of weaponry" and lack a inventory system making it more like a survival horror like Clock Tower. What makes this uninterested to me is that feature, all those survival horrors games like Clock Tower is the reason why these games suck. The sense of trying to avoid messed-up creatures to the possible Pyramid Head is intense yet scary but it will become overly frustrating and annoying. What I want in the next installment of Silent Hill is not more survival horror crap but to improve more on their controls and gameplay because the previous Silent Hill still plagues the bad use of good controls. From the looks of the story, you are a "escaped" convict who while being transferred from Prison but the prison truck crashes leading him to Silent Hill. And then shit goes downhill with all things Silent Hill.
Silent Hill Books of Memories is announced and it is revealed that the game will be coming to the NGP, probably a launch title or somewhere in 2011. There isn't much coverage right now and hopefully it will be better than those PSP Silent Hill games that are mediocre. However, Silent Hill Collection which is the remastered version of Silent Hill Two and Three in one package but unknown what platform that they would be released in (presumably for the 360 and PS3). Silent Hill 3 may be the only game that I fully completed. Silent Hill Revelation 3D is also mentioned and this is the only thing I'm a bit interested in on watching due to the Silent Hill movie being decent to watch but the script was perhaps bad.
Other HD Collections are Metal Gear Solid Collections which will contain Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater and Peace Walker and Zone of the Enders Collection which contain Zone of the Enders One and Two. The Metal Gear Solid Collection sure promises with Sons of Liberty since I really want to play that weird-ass game again and hopefully with its facelift of the remastered version will make those "fucked-up" scenes with Raiden naked look hotter. If you know what I'm saying. Snake Eater and Peace Walker, however isn't really my favourites and I just can't get into those games because of Snake Eater's difficulty and Peace Walker. I am more disappointed that the Metal Gear Solid isn't featured on this collection - I think it's because since they are going to rehashed these titles to convert them to HD, Metal Gear Solid however needed just more than a revamped HD face-lift but had to have Psycho Mantis NOT read your mind. Though I think it's great not having the first one in this collection, Guns of the Patriots had already done that bit with Act (3) and that Psycho boss with that save and rumble bit that Psycho Mantis is infamous for. For Zone of the Enders, I don't really know about that game so I will probably buy it and see what that game is like. Though they stated that it's not a "rehashed" into HD versions but with added art, dialogue, better audio, better UI and controls and Trophies that will be implemented in these two games separately.
Naked Snake is not pleased. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3DS - Not really interested because I don't intend to buy a 3DS and I won't be playing another Snake Eater game again. The new feature is the 3D capability from the 3DS which that Japanese dude elaborate so much and dragged it out in that interview.
Captioned had alway used itself. But sexy (Japanese) protagonist will often spread euphemism with his companion. Neverdead - The unraveling of NeverDead is a disappointing one: it seems like Japanese developers still in the year 2011, that they haven't changed much of their horrible script and acting. It's just unbelivable that companies like Konami decided that it would be great that Engrish would be hilarious even though they are creating a game to convey the seriousness of the situation here though with some Japanese humour. It's like Ninety-Nights Two from the looks of it but without ONE MILLION TROOPS and a mediorce-looking third person with decent graphics and terrible terrible acting. I am NOT looking forward to this game and it seems like Konami will constantly pull out crappy looking games with terrible acting.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 - The whole conference is broomed with trailers and developer's diaries and this is no exception. I didn't really listen to that French talking head that was talking.. maybe it's because they didn't had a horrible translator/dubber to dub him. What I know is that they updated the graphics and probably added some tweaks to enhance the PES experience. Yet another sports game but this sports/soccer game had gone too long with it's long-ass trailer.
Did you Fart, Transfar..ring. Bad pun I know but had to say it! "Transfart..rring" - The main star of the show, aside from Mega64 is the announcement of "Transfarring". Which we don't know right now if it's a joke planted by Mega64 and Kojima, pulling a long-winded prank that screw with the audience or if it's actually a real concept that will transport your "saves" from the PS3 to NGP. The fact that Kojima tried to educate you more about this concept that they are doing is screwing my mind - that Mega64 bit had summed everything up about this concept and having Mark McDonald further interviewing about this announcement is trying too hard. Especially when those two developers are demonstrating the power of "Transferring", trying their best to crack some lame jokes with a short demonstration of Peace Walker and "Transfarring" IT from the PS3 to PSP(?). The other unraveling is the new engine that Kojima was hesitant to announce but show us a short demo of it's capabilities. Calling it "FOX" Engine, it will be used for further Kojima Games to be capable of producing their games in a shorter development time cycle. The first game that show this engine will maybe be Rising that will be released in 360 and PS3.
This for viewing pleasure. Watch as Kojima show us weird que cards with a bad dubbing.
Overall, it's a disappointment that Konami decided to pre-recorded it with talking heads, developer's diaries and long-ass trailers with a touch of Mega64 and a wild card by Kojima. I think that from their previous experience presenting live, they fail to make a good performance seeing that most of the presenters are Japanese and it is often awkward that Japanese developers talk in press conferences. But that Kojima and Mega64 bit was actually the only lively version of anything that isn't some Japanese/French dude with their developer's diaries. Mark will surprisingly funny at the starting at lashing out at Kojima for NOT going to E3 but like Kojima often makes his game and stuff; he decides to make the "interview/tour" corny and weird adding an "AI" to make the least humorous bit that will never last in the elevator. The Mega64 bit looks Rocco as the janitor as Garrett and Shawn interrogates him on "spiting out" what's going on with Kojima and his secrets. Psycho Shawn comes out to "read his mind" and see the secrets, unraveling "Transfarring" and the bit that Mega64 often do in the streets. And after that Kojima decided best to elaborate more on this idea being NOT a prank and the rest is lame. And the President Of Konami America isn't a bonus incentive either, trying to talk you about the history of Konami and other stuff. I don't think I would watch Konami press conferences anymore, I just cannot tolerate it and seeing that I'm writing a blog about this conference, baffles myself.
