Is this coherent to anyone?

Thesis:

 

Through Plato’s understanding, Socrates believes that the
constant pursuit of philosophy, giving everyone the desire to gain knowledge,
wisdom, and truth, is worth dying for.

Argument:

“He responds that while some might find that an attractive option,
he would not quit philosophy, even on pain of death…” Through the words in the
text Socrates believes that the desire to obtain knowledge, wisdom, and truth
is much more important than the opposite such as, wealth and honor.

Assessment:

While I believe that this belief is noble, I don’t
personally agree with Socrates. I think that his ultimate goal of getting every
single person to think in this very specific way isn’t obtainable. I don’t
believe that one should be willing to give up their life for something they
will never really be able to fulfill. Some people are too cemented in their own
beliefs and too stubborn to ever truly be open to another way of thinking.
While I believe that Socrates goal is noble, I also believe it is an
unobtainable goal and thus not worth pursuing until death.
