Seeing gamer feuds over different companies... depresses me.

I know people who won't play a game or even try it because it's made by Nintendo. Does that make anyone else cringe, or is that just me?
Missing out on games like Super Mario Galaxy, the Pikmin series, or the masterpieces Metroid Prime/Super Metroid simply because it's made by or exclusively on the console of "the Wii Fit people" makes me lose faith in the gaming community. It's also the opposite, loyal Nintendo fanboys not willing to play an excellent game series like Metal Gear because it's not made by "their" company. I understand that a lot of times this is just a case of not being able to buy every console, but those aren't the cases I'm talking about. I'm talking about pure fanboys, people who miss out on excellent games.
I thought we were all gamers. Our hobby, or even profession, is playing video games. I understand that people are completely intitled to their opinons, but how can you consider yourself an avid gamer when you miss out on true gaming masterpieces when you won't play them for such a stupid reason? It pains me. I really hope Giant Bom doesn't get a forum where the soul purpose is arguing over companies and systems. Knowing the guys behind this place, I'm pretty confident, and glad, that it will never happen.
I feel sorry for these types people because they miss out, they simply miss out.
