Uh Uh Uh Uh Uh Quest Stats

I know what you're thinking. "Did he say 'Uh' five times or only four?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I kind of lost track myself. But being that this is Giant Bomb, the most charmingly garrulous website in the world, and would stab your head and neck right off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" I know what you're thinking. "Did he say 'Uh' five times or only four?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I kind of lost track myself. But being that this is Giant Bomb, the most charmingly garrulous website in the world, and would stab your head and neck right off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you, duder?

In all seriousness, I'm interested to see how this quest turns out. We've found over the past few quests that 3,000 can be too easy a goal, whereas 4,000 is often just out of our capable reach. This goal's a happy midpoint, then, wouldn't you think? I sure hope so, and there's one thousand bonus XP in it for 3,500 of us if we drive that point home. Shall we?

All right, enough talk. Let's get right to the stabbin-erm, the graph:

Uh Uh Uh Uh Uh Final Progress That gold line at the top was our once-shiny 3,500 user goal for this quest. The red line was the average pace we needed to exceed to succeed. The green line was our progress over the course of the quest. It's hard to tell due to thick lines, but because seventeen people had completed this quest before the community quest started, both the green and red lines start their path a bit above zero.

Well, 3,500 wasn't quite our happy midpoint for this quest. I certainly don't think 3,500 completions is unachievable, and we did come somewhat close, all things said. In the end, though, the video and quick look confusion may have been our undoing. Even if it wasn't, I'd say 3,500 is a good target for easy scavenger quests in the future.

Here are the final numerical stats:
  • All 132.2 hours have been exhausted, and we finished with 3,066 completions, 434 short of our goal.
  • In the last day, we picked up an additional 89 completions, which was about a 3% downturn from the day before. The final day's completions comprise about 2.5% of the 3,500 goal, and put us 87.6% of the way to success.
  • At the start of this quest, we needed to exceed an average of 26.35 completions per hour to have a chance at success.
  • We averaged 23.2 completions per hour overall, and 4.4 completions per hour in the last two hours. Just a little bit short.
  • If our pace from the last two hours continued on, we'd take another 99.5 hours to finish this quest.
  • TheGreatGuero predicted we'd finish with 2,912 completions, underestimating the Giant Bomb community by 154 completions or 5.3%. That's still better than my knee-jerk prediction for Kinect Four that fell very short.
  • A quest comparison graph is below. You'll note I'm beginning to fade out old quests. When they're two weeks or quest periods old, they'll begin to fade by 5% per quest period. I'll probably limit this to a value around 75% or 90%. All you need to know is this: Old quests look more transparent.

I'll return with more stuff for the next community quest, as always. Thanks for reading -- I hope you found some enjoyment out of these crazy stats.
