The Big Quiz Community Quest Stats

by trace

With a new community quest challenge upon us, I figured I'd make good on my earlier promise and start providing statistics for the progress we're making. Will we, as a community, band together and fill Giant Bomb up with fresh trivia, or will we fail and let our trivia-loving brethren down? Hopefully I can help you see the bigger picture of The Big Quiz. Here's a graph of our now-final progress...

Will we, as a community, band together and fill Giant Bomb up with fresh trivia, or will we fail and let our trivia-loving brethren down? Hopefully I can help you see the bigger picture of The Big Quiz.

Here's a graph of our now-final progress vs. the necessary pace:

The Big Quiz Final Progress The gold line is what we needed to reach, the red line is the general pace of completion we needed to maintain for a chance at success, and the green line is how we performed as a community.

Those little pink and blue lines at the bottom of the graph are the progress of Screened and Anime Vice on their The Big Quiz community quests, just to see how much we outperformed them.

Our final stats:
  • We exhausted all 130 hours of this challenge. Quest comparison graph
  • Our final number of completions, barring any late arrivals, is 1,129, which is 1,871 users short of our goal.
  • Our final rate of completion was 8.7 completions per hour. From the beginning, we needed 23.08 completions per hour to succeed.
  • At this rate, we would have needed 345.44 hours to complete this challenge.
  • The Arbitrary Estimation of Success held at 0% over the last few days, and was accurate.
  • A comparison of The Big Quiz against the performance of Lovin' Cup and X-Treme is to the right.

Hopefully some of you found this interesting. If you have any questions, stat requests, or criticisms, let me know!

*The Arbitrary Estimation of Success is based on a formula that's probably extremely faulty and is subject to change drastically if our pace falls off or picks up significantly.
