WWE Summerslam Night 2
Welcome to the first ever night 2 of WWE Summerslam! Our show starts with a recap of night 1 as well as some recaps of the stories heading into tonight’s stacked card. With that being said, LET’S GET READY TO RASSLE!
Triple Haitch is out first with a microphone to get the crowd hyped up. After running through his schtick we get a ton of pyro and our first match is ready to start.

Women's World Championship: Naomi def Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley: Rhea is out first and the potential match of the weekend is our first match. Iyo is out next, followed by Naomi. Naomi gets played to the ring by her father, who just fucking rips on guitar. 10 stars for her entrance alone. Naomi tries to get the other two to fight, before bailing out of the ring. Rhea and Iyo chase her back into the ring and beat down the champ for a bit. Naomi takes control for a good chunk after getting back in the ring, including blocking a Rhea suplex attempt by biting Rhea’s thumb. After a bit, Rhea and Iyo beat down Naomi and both hit Iyo’s signature taunt before Naomi powders out of the ring. Iyo and Rhea go at it for a bit and it is fantastic as expected. Naomi keeps coming up to break up multiple pins. Rhea works her over on the outside, but Iyo hits a big Asai moonsault on both. These three continue killing it for a while. Iyo hits a diving sunset flip on Rhea, but powerbombs her onto Naomi, which was cool. Rhea and Iyo end up on the top rope, where Rhea hits an avalanche Riptide. Naomi comes in and rolls Rhea up with a handful of tights for the win. It may not have been as good as the other matches this year involving Rhea and Iyo, but it was still damn good. ★★★★★★★★☆☆.
We get a promo about Summerslam being in Minneapolis next year, but I was too busy making homemade fried chicken sandwiches to catch the specifics. It appears as though the TLC is next. The Dudley boys and the Hardy Boyz are in attendance. I guess the one true Forbidden Door is preventing Cope and Christian Cage from being there as well.

WWE Tag Team Championship, TLC match: The Wyatt Sicks def Andrade/Rey Fenix, #DIY, Fraxiom, Motor City Machine Guns, and The Street Profits: There are 12 fucking people in this match so I’m not even going to try to recap the events the way I do with other matches. This should be pure insanity in the best way. After the entire supply of tables in New Jersey gets broken, we make a 12 person match more chaotic when Candice LaRae, B-Fab, and Nikki Cross all run in. Candice gets pushed off a ladder through a ladder bridge between the ring and announce table, and she looked like she had a ROUGH landing. Erik Rowan comes in now and gets double shoulder tackled through a table in the corner. This has been a 16 person match so far. Ciampa hangs from the belts and they tease the old Jeff Hardy/Edge spear, but Ciampa hangs upside down from the belts to avoid it. Uncle Howdy becomes the 17th person in the match and pushes people off ladders including both DIY members through a four stack of Slim Jim branded tables on the outside. After a bunch more bullshit, Joe Gacy climbs the ladder to undo the belts and the Wyatt Sicks retain. This was a gigantic spotfest, but some of the most fun matches are total spotfests. I don’t know what was higher, the amount of tables broken or the amount of people involved in the match. It was great, but not as good as the TLC on the Smackdown after Wrestlemania. ★★★★★★★★☆☆
I made some more chicken sandwiches while a bunch of ads for upcoming events and recaps played. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong with my $14 deep fryer, but I greatly prefer fried chicken made in an air fryer. Oh, right, rasslin.

Women's Intercontinental Championship, No DQ match: Becky Lynch def Lyra Valkyria: Lyra is out first, but doesn’t have her wings. Becky is out next with some new music. I greatly prefer her old theme. We start with hands being thrown before we get to some wrestling moves being done. Becky is first to use the stipulation as she grabs a kendo stick from under the ring. Lyra pops up with a crowbar. The Crowbar wins that encounter. Lyra works Becky around the ringside area, before tossing her over the announce table. Lyra then grabs one of the only tables on earth that wasn’t broken in the TLC match. After setting it up, Becky begins strangling Lyra with a steel chain and takes over. Becky puts her kendo stick to good use by hitting Lyra with it then hitting a White Russian Leg Sweep for a 2 count. Becky grabs a tool box and a few chairs to use for more punishment. Becky hits Lyra with everything, then zip ties Lyra’s hands together, before hitting her a few times with a wrench. Becky eventually ends up hanging Lyra by the hands from the ring post and hits multiple kendo stick shots. Lyra is able to get her arms around Becky for a big slam, but the zip ties are still solidly in place. She fights back for a bit and unties the turnbuckle pad before being cut off by Becky. Becky looks for Lyra, who is under the ring with a fire extinguisher. Lyra finally gets the zip ties off and goes to town on Becky with a kendo stick. Lyra eventually hits her finish from the stairs to the floor which had to suck for both ladies. Once back in the ring, Lyra hits the exposed turnbuckle and takes a manhandle slam onto two chairs that were set up earlier. Later on, Becky is attempting to murder Lyra and Bayley comes out to save Lyra. She then attacks Becky. They fight around the ring where Bayley full sends herself over the barricade as Becky stumbles to the table, where Lyra hits a legdrop outta nowhere. Back in the ring, Becky and Lyra struggle for control, Bayley goes to swing at Becky but hits Lyra instead. Becky hits the manhandle slam for the win. Good match that had some strange pacing at points. ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
I got a glass of milk and came back to former Broncos QB Russell Wilson on my screen, which ruined my night. Fuck him and God bless Bo Nix. We get the cage lowering music for, you guessed it, a cage match.

United States Championship, Steel Cage match: Solo Sikoa def Jacob Fatu: Champion is out first here followed by the challenger. After some shine from Fatu, Solo takes over after a back body drop into the cage. I’m with Jesse Ventura on being annoyed with how walking out of the cage door is a viable way to win. Jacob comes back and hits two moonsaults but Solo kicks out. Now the MFTs are out and surround the cage. Jimmy Uso’s music hits and he comes through the crowd to fight JC and Tonga Loa. Talla Tonga takes him out with ease though. Solo is trying to leave through the door, but Jacob stops him and closes the door. Solo hits a Samoan spike but Jacob kicks out. Solo tries to climb out but Fatu stops him. After tossing Solo off the ropes, everyone climbs the cage and Talla handcuffs Fatu to the top of the cage. Jacob breaks the handcuffs and stops Solo from escaping. Solo Sikoa wins after Talla Tonga kicks the door into Jacob Fatu’s face. I don’t know if I’m getting burned out at this point but this match did nothing at all for me. ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆. After the match, Jimmy Uso throws JC into the cage where Jacob beats him and Tonga Loa up. Jacob hits a moonsault off the top of the cage onto both of them.

Intercontinental Championship: Dominick Mysterio def AJ Styles: Champ is out first again. Then AJ Styles comes out in a lowrider, rocking Eddie Guerrero inspired gear to mess with Dom. I was watching a good chunk of this match via reflection on on of my cabinet windows while making more fried chicken, but the crowd was definitely into this match. Later in the match we get Dom and AJ doing an Eddie Guerrero spot which was quite a bit of fun. AJ gets the calf crusher on Dom, who does Eddie’s Wrestlemania 20 boot spot which was just great. Fun match with plenty of tributes to the great Eddie Guerrero. ★★★★★★★☆☆☆.
Now it’s time for some more fried chicken sandwiches as well as our main event of the evening.

Undisputed WWE Championship, Street Fight: Cody Rhodes def John Cena: We get a Dusty Rhodes quote on the Titantron before Cody takes the Codyvator up to the stage. Big match John is out next with his full brightly colored Titantron. BABYFACE JOHN CENA IS BACK BAYBAY. The match starts with a hug, before both men agree to start throwing hands. John grabs a crutch from Tyreese Haliburton in the crowd and hits Cody a few times with it. Cena then brings the steps into the ring, but Cody bodyslams Cena onto them. Cena knocks Cody off the top rope to the outside. Cena then picks up the steps and launches them at Cody. However, Cody is able to hit Cena with a disaster kick and takes over. A bit later, things spill back to the outside where both guys grab chairs and swing them at each other. Cody knocks the chair out of Cena’s hands then kicks that chair out before using his on John. After Cena reverses Cody’s attempts to Irish whip him into a chair in the corner, Cena hits his moves of doom, before Cody hits his. They go back and forth for a while before Cody hits a piledriver on Cena. A piledriver in WWE??? This match is on one right now. Cena hits an AA and we get a double down followed by a yay/boo spot. Cody hits a popup powerbomb, but Cena kicks out at 2. As he does, Cena locks Cody in the STF. On the outside again, Cody sends Cena into the timekeepers area, Cena hits Cody with a mic, then John fucking Cena hits a fucking Code Red! Cena brings Cody onto the announce table and hits an AA through the other announce table. After dragging Cody back in the ring, Cena is only able to get a 2 count. Cody comes back and hits a Crossrhodes for a 2 count. Cody puts Cena on the top rope and goes for a superplex, but Cena powers out and hits his flying legdrop, then an AA. Cody kicks out at 2. Cena grabs a table and sets that up in the ring. They go back and forth some more before Cody throws Cena into the crowd. The two brawl on the outside for a while. They go under the stage, and come up through the Codyvater with Cody on Cena’s shoulders. Cena gives Cody an AA on the ramp, then carries him to the ring. Cody sends Cena through the table, hits Crossrhodes but only gets a 2 count. Cody takes the bottom rope off and hits Cena with the turnbuckle. He hits Cena again, and it seems like we’re seeing a more aggressive side of Cody. Cena trips Cody and locks in the STF with the rope. Cody reverses and they fight to hit their finishers. Cody hits 3 Crossrhodes on Cena, but only gets a 2 count. Cody grabs the belt and lines Cena up. Cena gets up and hits Cody with 2 AAs and an avalanche AA. Cody kicks out. This match has gone full AEW with the amount of finisher kickouts. Cena grabs yet another table and sets it up on the ring. Cena puts Cody on the top rope, but Cody gets away and hits a big cutter off the top through the table. Cody salutes Cena and hits one final Crossrhodes for the win. What a match. As I said before, there were way too many finisher kickouts for my liking, but damn that was an entertaining match. ★★★★★★★★☆☆.
After the match, John hands Cody the belt and has some words with the new champ before raising his hand. All of the pyro goes off, the two shake hands and Cody raises Cena’s hand before leaving. Cena gets a standing ovation and “Thank you Cena” chants. Out of nowhere, Brock Lesnar's music hits and he walks down to the ring. Bork hits Cena with an F5, grabs his hat, then we fade to black.
Night 2 was more enjoyable than night 1 was, but I did get a little burned out by all of the stipulation matches. The Dom and AJ was a very fun palette cleanser before the main event ended the show on a high note. That being said, the match of the weekend was easily Punk vs Gunther. That match was just fucking great. Go watch it. So with that being said, if you enjoyed reading this, feel free to read my other stuff, and I will see you in a few weeks for AEW/NJPW/CMLL Forbidden Door. Thanks for reading, and remember, Don’t let the bastards grind you down.
