Nintendo Just Filled My Wishlist with Wii Classics

I expected a few things from today's Nintendo Direct, like an announcement for the New 3DS, Majora's Mask and Monster Hunter 4U release dates, and information about Xenoblade on 3DS.

I did not, however, expect to hear details about Code Name S.T.E.A.M., a new Rhythm Heaven, a new Fire Emblem, or Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

And I certainly didn't expect to hear about Super Mario Galaxy 2, Punch Out!!!, and Metroid Prime Trilogy coming out natively on Wii U to be on sale for $10! I just... I have wanted to play all three of these. In fact, I own a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy that I bought used for $50 a few months ago.

Now, I have a rule in place where I am not allowing myself to buy any new games until I finish ten games on my "to play" list. However, with the announcement of these games being on sale for half off the first week, I am considering an amendment to that rule.

What if, in the case of exceptional deals that are unlikely to occur again for games that I absolutely want to play, I allow myself to purchase the game as long as I play it to completion in the current set of ten games?

Basically, I'm trying to come up with an excuse to buy SMG2. I fully admit that.

I think, given the fact that SMG2 has been a game I've longed to play for a while now, that I am willing to make this exception. What I'm going to do is add it to the list at the current rank order, meaning I'll play it straight away after I "finish" my current endeavor (Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4).

Besides, I realized this past weekend that I forgot to put Shin Megami Tensei IV on my list and need to add it.

I'll update the list later this week when I buy SMG2!

...I really cannot wait to play this game, either. I may have to take a break from Dragon Age for it. I absolutely loved Super Mario Galaxy on Wii and always kicked myself for not playing the second one. I'll take this as a sign!
