My notes on: Titanfall

Titanfall Developer: Respawn Entertainment Publisher: EA So... I don't own Titanfall, because I don't like the fact that it is online-only. A few days ago I read that Origin has something called Game Time allowing you to play some games completely for free for 48 hours. I jumped at the opportunity and started downloading. Thinking maybe this will be the thing that changes my thoughts of Origin....

Very high

I'm a glass-half-full kind of a guy so I'll start with the positive and let's see where this goes.
- The tutorial was actually very useful teaching you to move like a skilled pilot
- The movement feels so fluid when comparing it to Call of Duty (the part I hate most about COD)
- All of those animations of the pilot climbing into the Titan are amazing
- At least there is no stupid in-browser server selection like in BF3
- There is no map voting???
- There definitely could be more weapons
- I liked the kick attack
- Learning the maps is important like in every 1st person shooter
- The mobility of the pilot and the firepower of the titan can create some interesting cat and mouse situations
- Some maps are just not suited for pilots and their parkour because there just isn't enough structures
- Last Titan Standing sure was fun
- Mostly played Attrition and Hardpoint
- Really liked the concept of Burn cards
- Check out that water!
- When you've lost the game you'll get instructions to go to an evac point. It can get very tense trying to make it to the ship
- One of the best moments playing happened when I was meters away from the evac ship and just as I made my last double-jump, the enemy titans surrounding blew the ship up and as it was on the edge of the map I then fell to my death.
- "We're totally crushing it, broooo" I can see why Microsoft wanted this as an exclusive.

Ok so with ten hours of game time to go I turned the game on and the game said it could not find my player data. So I decided I'd played enough of Titanfall. I played it 5 hours and leveled my pilot to level 12. So now the other half .
- The grunt AI is pretty crap
- ....and so is the SMART pistol
- The online-only thing just sucks. They could at least store some data on your machine
- Getting kicked from a server also sucks
- Especially with such long load times. I'm thinking it can't be my machine
- So I tried to remain optimistic but eventually my thoughts didn't change. I'm quite happy I didn't buy that game
