Here’s the thing: every year is a weird year for gaming. If you had asked me in 2024, or 2023, or 2013, or 1996, I probably would have said they were strange years in the industry as well. 2025 has seen Saudi Arabian buyouts as we continue to steer ourselves into monopolies. Xbox all but outright saying they don’t care about gaming anymore. Tariffs have loomed over hardware costs as much as generative AI have loomed over development pipelines. Studios have shuttered, critical outlets have changed for the worse (and better).

Man, it has been a looong time since I wrote anything about video games. The last review I wrote was for Transformers: Devastation back in 2015; A game which I forgot has existed until just now. In this week’s show everyone is dead, or near enough. Daniel Hobbs leads a hungover charge into the video game news you need to know. David Treharne’s takes you on a psychedelic trip into the future where your eyes are tv screens and new man Tom Seymour tell us all about himself and why he should be wildest gunslinger in the west. Oh, also Brothers: a tale of two sons is really good apparently....
