Run! is a game for the iPhone/iPod Touch that involves running to the right and avoiding obstacles. It's the kind of game I want on the iPhone platform: it's simple, and is easy to play in short bursts.
In Run!, you "control" a stick figure. He automatically runs to the right so you don't really have full control of him. You can make him jump by swiping up on the screen, slide by swiping down, punch by pressing the "Attack" button, and shoot rockets at things by tapping at them. It's one of the few games I've played where superimposing a button on the touch screen actually works. The trick is some things can be killed with rockets, but others have to be punched. It's kind of weird that you can't shoot a rocket at a dude to kill him, but it makes the game more fun this way.

As you progress, you'll start going faster (making enemies harder to avoid) and new obstacles will be added. The obstacles range from brick walls to UFOs to wizards. It's silly fun. But there's one obstacle that ruins the whole thing. This one obstacle is the one major flaw with the game. The damn circular saw. It's one of the worst things ever. It flies down from the sky and in order to avoid it you have to slide underneath it. At the beginning it's not too bad, but the further you progress, the faster it gets until it is incredibly difficult to avoid. There are also power-ups you can collect by punching them. You just punch the shit out of these power-ups to collect them. I found it incredibly satisfying, but maybe that's just me.
As well as a Normal mode, there are three other modes. Custom mode allows you to customize your starting speed and starting obstacles and also get rid of the damn fan. This mode doesn't allow you to save your scores to the leaderboard though. Quick mode is just the normal mode except you start with all the obstacles in play. My least favourite is Minute mode. You have one minute and infinite lives to get as many points as you can. This is the one game mode where you can control your speed. You slide along the ground to gain speed, which doesn't work very well at all. All the obstacles are in play right from the start, which means there is no progression. Your character doesn't maintain his speed very well, so you have to be constantly sliding in order to go as fast as you can. It just isn't very fun, especially compared to how well the other parts of the game work.

Overall, Run! is a pretty cool little game. It's only a dollar, and is one of those iPhone games that takes advantage of what makes the iPhone good, while not falling into some of the traps that make lots of iPhone games complete garbage. It also has an exclamation mark at the end of it's name, which I feel is something way more games should have.
