Tetris is a simple and perfect game. Many people regard it as one of the greatest games of all time. I believe that Balatro should also be in that conversation.
Balatro is slow and chill and endlessly replayable. As of now, I have over 500 hours in the game, and I'm still putting in a few more hours almost every week.
In the years since the game was released, countless other games have tried their spins on the Balatro formula. None of them have come close to nailing the surface level simplicity with superbly nuanced gameplay that LocalThunk has created.
