Short Game, Short Review.

The perpetually silent Pointman and Fettel have eventually put aside their differences, or that’s what they want you to think in F.3.A.R. A sequel that’s not particularly in line with the rest of the franchise but has so much more to provide on a Co-Op footing than many games that have been released recently.

Upon my 3rd completion I thought I had experienced enough to at least discuss the game. Although it hasn’t quite got the scare factor of it’s previous iterations the challenges in game and score with in the level encourages you to both work together or tear each other apart in order to get the highest score possible, after all whoever scores the most in the campaign get’s to see “their” ending. This alone adds to the replayability of it.

With each level there are many different ways you can chose to play through be it with your guns blazing as Pointman or a slightly more sinister approach by possessing and killing the opposition from the inside.

That being said the story itself is very short and proves far more difficult on one player. The lack of your grinding conflict and fighting also lessens the feel of the game and makes it incredibly harder even if you are the highest level.

The same goes for the online play. There isn’t much to it and the games modes can feel rather repetitive and just replicate what has worked well for other games such as CoDs now infamous ZOMBIES !

If you are looking for the next true installment of Alma and her bastard children then refrain from a purchase but else wise it’s a great Co-Op game that will encourage arguments and quarrels for hours on end. Needless to say I can’t wait for F.E.4.R. and the slightly less anticipated sequel 5.E.A.R.
