If you have looked at this game and said "Its a Guitar Hero clone" you obviously haven't played this game at a party. The game brings everyone together and its fun.
When i first picked this up i had already played Guitar Hero, so I've master it on expert, but i wanted to try out the drums. It took maybe 2 minutes to put them together so its very easy to assemble. If you have a good rhythm its easy to start on medium. You start out by creating a rocker choosing its name, hairstyle and color, body type and also face type. From there you start rocking out on either the bass, drums, guitar, or vocals. To further customize your character, the rock shop is were you collect shirts, shoes, tattoos, accessories, hairstyle, makeup, and also new instruments. Another great thing is you can further customize your instruments with stickers that can be sized, colored and placed anywhere on the instrument.
If your playing guitar on expert you may notice that its much easier than Guitar Hero. This might be because they want lots of newer audiences to be able to get to this level. The vocals is the weak point though in this game. Its the same thing in Karaoke Revolution, you easily hum through the song which i find ridiculous. It also breaks very easily. I dropped it on a carpeted floor about three feet and it was throwing the cursor on the screen up and down on the vocal track. There hasn't been any third party microphones up to the challenge so we haven't had a solution. This will hopefully be fixed in the new Rock Band 2.
Online play seem to be missing something, i could be Battle of the Bands game mode. There is only the "Lets see who can get the highest score" mode. All i see for band online is the leaderboards for Band World Tour. This is a real disappointment to see the Live aspect completely thrown away.
Finally the best aspect of this game, Band World Tour. The reason? Its why this game was made, to make you feel like your in a real band. When your playing with four friends, you fight about what song to do next and also decide who plays the drums or guitar. It one of those things that Harmonix just nailed. When your in a band you fight about what songs next and that's what brings the game together the music.
