Assassin's Creed2007

5 out of 5 stars

Assassin's Creed is a beautiful game. Sure it's somewhat repetitive but almost all open world games are. Sure it's somewhat derivative, sure the writing isn't particularly interesting and the plot predictable. But the gameplay is just so damn fun and visceral that it's hard to care. Speaking of derivation, it will only take a couple of leaps off ledges or a couple of climbs up a building for anyone to realize that…

BioShock2007

5 out of 5 stars

"I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose . . . Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small!!" These are the words you hear early on in the game as your character finds himself entering the under water world of Bioshock. Indeed the city…

Bayonetta2009

5 out of 5 stars

Being the mastermind behind the original Devil May Cry and hence a pioneer of sorts of the "character action game", Hideki Kamiya had a lot to live up to with Bayonetta, the game that many consider the spiritual successor Devil May Cry. However, Bayonetta exceeds expectations by not only delivering a tight, well executed gameplay experience but also offering delightfully over the top and campy narrative filled with…

3 out of 5 stars

Being the supposed final Fallout 3 DLC, Mothership Zeta obviously came with high expectations. Unfortunately for many, those lofty expectations probably won't be completely fulfilled. However, this is still a fun addon that will add several hours of gameplay as well as some nice alien loot for the player to enjoy. Mothership Zeta takes place entirely aboard an alien spaceship, and like the previous DLCs is…

Gears of War 22008

5 out of 5 stars

When Gears of War 2 was first announced, I was immediately excited. The first Gears was one of my favorite games of all time and the reason why I bought a 360. Now, over 2 years have passed since the first game and it seems both unexpected and unrealistic that Gears of War 2 could meet such high expectations. Yet, when I finally played the game, not only did it meet my expectations but in fact exceeded them. Gears 2…

Dead Space2008

5 out of 5 stars

The underlining gameplay elements in Dead Space are pretty simple. It's in essence a third-person shooter in the vein of Resident Evil 4 or Gears of War, and the controls feel just as smooth and streamlined as any other third-person shooter. The missions are pretty straightforward as well as you are moving from one point to another and thanks to a nifty in-game guidance system, you'll never be uncertain of where you…

Saints Row 22008

4 out of 5 stars

After GTA IV rejuvenated the Grand Theft Auto franchise of games, it's hard to imagine an open world game doing it better, especially one who's predecessor was essentially a "GTA clone" though a very good one. Yet, Saints Row 2 delivers in spades, and not on the strength of it's presentation or it's storylines (as it was with GTA IV) but in its sheer overthetop ridiculousless and self-degredating humor that we like…

Devil May Cry 42008

4 out of 5 stars

Five months after its release on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, Devil May Cry 4's release on the PC seemed to be of little consequence. After all, the last DMC game released on the PC, Devil May Cry 3 SE was hardly a huge success. And while Devil May Cry 4 for the PC is arguably the best version of the game on any platform, it still seems to lack any significant PC-only exclusives that you would expect, and hence…
