Fun to build.
Fun to play
And funny dialogue with many referential jokes to other games and movies.
First off, a few issues to note:
The 'Custom Game' difficulty curve needs fixing, going from easy on a hard spike after the first 10 minutes or so to difficult where it peaks for a while before becoming a cake-walk the rest of the way.
For a German RTS, not a huge deal of micromanaging at work which otherwise might be expected - whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is up to the player.
The first and latest DLC (Into the Dark) should of be a freebie, as you don't have a great deal of prestige items nor maps with the original game content and without it, this game loses some replayability, other than buy simply redesigning your dungeons better. I feel that with more VARIETY of items, you could better theme your dugeon - however they all turn out to be fairly similar in the end due to spamming certain amounts of the same items to gain the needed Prestige to place the better ones.
Buying this game, I wasn't expecting a lot based on gameplay vidoes on YouTube and is pretty lackluster trailer. Despite the negatives listed above, I did still enjoy the game and it DID exceed my expectations.
Whilst I don't think they'll release a bucket load of new items w/ themes (at least for free), I do see them working at it to fix the difficulty curve issues in their regular update changelogs which I appreciate. I can definately see myself changing the score to a solid 7 / 7.5 after it's fixed some more.
Hopefully, with the DLC being cheap they'll receieve some more funding to help fix the game up and maybe offer some small free content updates. I'll definately be buying the current DLC soon to give it a whirl!
The concept is sound, as it is tried and tested (Dungeon Keeper) - but Dungeons fails to pull it off close to half as well. Perhaps after this reasonably well marketed cash-grab, the next will be better?
