Fluidy Fluids

PixelJunk Shooter is the 4th game in the PixelJunk series developed by Q-Games, but I think Shooter isn't such a great name for this game. I would have probably called it PixelJunk Elements since that is the main theme of this downloadable game and they are what make it so fun and unique. The story of Shooter is that a mining crew has been trapped on an alien planet and you must go save them. You'll go through three worlds picking up the mining crew but what's even more important are the diamonds. These diamonds are hidden in rocks, ice and secret caves and if you want to find them all  you'll probably have to go through each level twice. The reason you need these diamonds is because you need a certain amount to be able to open up the final level of each world. In each final level there is a giant boss fight  but I won't spoil them for you. What really makes this game interesting, as I said before are the elements. There's water, lava, gas and oil. In order to get through each level you must mix these elements together (ex: water+ lava= rock) to solve the simple puzzles that the game tosses at you. It's fun just to mess around with this fluids since their physics are really neat. There are also many items you can use to solve the puzzles as well (ex: One item can suck up any type of element and then spit it out any where you want.) The art style of Shooter is eye candy and the music is a funky and fits the game nicely. The only problem I have with the game is that it's a bit on the easy and short side and if the diamonds weren't there to double your game time you could probably blaze through Shooter in 2 hours or so. Yet even if  the game isn't that long it's still well worth the 10$ you'll pay. Shooter is a fun, unique and interesting download that is worthy of the PixelJunk name.
