To say this game is polarizing is a bit of an understatement. Any technical criticisms (control, I would say are the biggest) levied against it are legitimate. However when viewed as an entire piece of work, this game is one that expertly entertains.
I've said that if you are of the type of person who really enjoyed 1) The Evil Dead movies(humor/style), 2) From Dusk Till Dawn (setting/style/tone) 3) Resident Evil 4 (mechanics) than you will most likely love this game.
The 3 talented developers each bring their field of expertise to the forefront in SotD. The music, controls, and story all coalesce into a singular vision that takes a lot of dedication to pull off in today's world of me-too games and sequels.
Shadows of the Damned is less of a fantastic game and more of a fantastic experience. One that is so earnest in it's absurdity, that you can't help but love it.
