Here is a game in which you take the role of a young man, in a blue suit with a pea shooter and out to save the world from the evil scientist, Dr. Wily. Mega Man is like an action platformer with shooting elements, along with dodging tons of enemies, as well as obstacles.
In Mega Man you choose from one of six bosses, in which you can take down in any order, but learning the game you will then discover which is the best path to take on these bosses. When you defeat a boss and their level, you will then steal their power and can then use it on any other level as well as against bosses. You will take control of Mega Man and shoot enemies that lie in your path, and jump from platforms, using a lot of timing based platforming. There will be lots of enemy fire going in your direction, having avoid while trying to take down the enemy as well. Each level has its own theme to that of the boss you chose, and will have a specific theme of the boss you picked, such as Ice Man, or Elec Man. Most enemies fall after one hit, and some take a few hits. There are also enemies that can take a lot of hits, unless you use a bosses power to help you out. The powers use aquire from bosses will help you on levels, and some power ups making some levels a lot easier.
Mega Man is a very easily controlled game, and has nothing wrong with the way the game moves. You jump with character, then shoot, as well you can open your inventory with start to choose which weapon or power you want to use. Mega Man aquires a lot of time, because all of these levels aren't going to be easy at all, as you can spend up to 5 hours on a level just to learn the pattern, or even get through without taking much damage, because you'll have to verse the boss with the health you go into the battle with against him. All the levels require tons of thinking, and some of the hardest platforming you will ever face, plus the frustrating obstacles getting in your way, and on top of that, all of the enemies on screen. Mega Man is not an easy game what so ever, this game is very hard, but don't be over whelmed, because it just takes time, and once you learn the level, it will be a lot easier for you, but still can't let your guard down or else you can take a beating in the health department very quick, and health is precious in this game.
Mega Man is a fantastic looking game, full of vibrant colors, and some of the best looking 8-bit graphics you will ever see, and on the NES. Each level in Mega Man has its own unique design, keeping the game feel fresh the whole way through, with nice fine tuned features to every level, and enemies looking very fresh to the video game world. Mega Man has a very bright look to it as well, with really good looking graphics, but may once and a while see some glitchy errors like Mega Man or enemies disappearing for a split second, but not really affecting the gameplay as whole to much.
Mega Man is the first game in the series, and spawned the first game full of some of the best music of all time, with killer tunes and synthesizers rocking in the background while you play this really tough and awesome game. Each level has its own kickin song making the enjoyment and atmosphere feel great. The soundtrack spawned what became a staple in all Mega Man games which all have awesome music, the best in the sequel (Mega Man 2).
Mega Man is a fun game, but like most NES games, is unrelentless with its difficulty, but don't let that stand in your way, because pulling yourself through and finally beating the game makes you feel like your on top of the world. I recommend, if you are up to the challenge, to give this game a try. You might hate the game while you are playing because of the difficulty, but after you finish and look back, you'll realize you've just beaten one hell of a game.
But, beware of the final stage, it is HARD!
