My experience with the Katamari series started with beautiful katamari on the 360. But in no more then 30 minutes I just couldn't wrap my head around the controls and couldn't even get past the first level. But something strange happend, though I hated beautiful katamari I still found myself wanting to play more of it. So, I decided to rent Katamari forever and I have to say, I loved it. For some strange reason the PS3 controller just feels alot better then the 360, and that really helped me get past the learning curve. Also Katamari forever looks better and has great music ( though as I've heard the music has always been one of the best things about this series).
The story in this game is just crazy, it starts with the king of all cosmos flying into space when out of nowhere a giant spikey rock hits him in the head sending him into a coma. The story becomes more insane as you go and the ending is one big mindblowing event.
My favorite part ( and my least favorite) is the vareity of differen't ways to roll a Katamari, for instance, in one level the king may ask you to roll a giant snowball or roll a 10,000km ball in 6 minutes. The reason why I have such a love/hate view of this is because sometimes the challenges can be vexing. My least favorite level is the camp level where you have to keep your Katamari on fire all while tring to get to the right size to set a stack of logs on fire, oh and you only have 6 minutes. It's things like that make me want to just walk away and never look back, but there are levels like one close to the end where you get so massive that you begin ROLLING OF THE UNIVERSE!
Overall: I had a great time with this game, and I think that anybody who thinks rolling up buildings and sea monsters into stars should give this game a shot.
